This mummy-shaped statuette was meant to replace the deceased if she was called to perform agricultural labor in the hereafter. In her right hand she holds a hoe. A grain bag is slung across her right shoulder. The elongated face with accentuated eyes and lips, and the sinuous curves of the body, with realistically rendered buttocks, firmly date this sculpture to the Amarna period. The fact that in this period non-royal persons and even Akhenaten himself were buried with shabtis shows that the new religion had not done completely away with traditional religious beliefs.
