Ibis statuette

Figure of an ibis. The legs are missing. The eyes are recessed for the inlay, which is missing in the left eye, whereas the inlay of the right eye is still preserved. The beak is long and curved downwards. The neck is long and curved. The body narrows towards the end and the tail plumes are indicated with an incision. The wings are tightly folded to the body and indicated with a protruding rim, visible on the two sides of the chest. At the bottom side of the statuette, there is a large triangular opening, partially covered with a thin bronze plate. A ceramic material which fills the statuette is visible through the break. Two holes are carved into this ceramic material, probably to insert the now missing legs. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for hollow casts.
