Imhotep statuette

Figure of Imhotep, seated with an open papyrus scroll on his lap. Imhotep is depicted wearing a skullcap. The arms rest along the body, and the hands holding a papyrus scroll on his lap. Imhotep wears a shendyt kilt decorated with vertical lines. He sits on a decorated stool, adorned on three sides with a stylised vegetal motif, which itself rests on a rectangular base. The base seems to be inscribed on at least three sides. Inside the throne and the base there is some material, probably identifiable as remains of the casting mould. A tenon of almost circular section projects down from the back side of the base. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts.
