Playing the role of Hathor protecting the sun god, queen Mutnedjemet embraces her husband Horemheb. Despite its high quality, this statue remained unfinished. Several details are missing, including the stripes of the royal kilt and nemes headdress, the wings of the vulture in the queen’s headdress, and the lower part of the bound enemies depicted on one side of the throne. On the back of the statue, a long inscription records the coronation of Horemheb, who was general of Tutankhamun before ascending the throne.
