Figure of a royal recumbent sphinx. The human head wears a nemes decorated with horizontal stripes and a raised uraeus, the head of which is broken. The back of the nemes is tied in a small queue. A straight, false beard is connected to the chest. The torso is decorated with vertical lines, possibly intended to render the texture of the fur. The front legs, along with the anterior portion of the base, are broken; the front limbs were originally raised, and the bent elbows are still visible. The body is leonine, with the hind legs tucked beneath it: the thighs are visible, and the tail is curled around the right thigh. Two rectangular-section tenons project down from the sphinx: the anterior tenon is still set into the modern base, while the posterior tenon is broken. The statuette is mounted on a modern, dark-coloured wooden base. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts.
