The goddess Hathor, ‘Lady of the West’, was associated with the Theban mountain, site of private and royal necropolises. She can be identified by specific attributes: a headdress with bovine horns and sun disc, a menat necklace and a sistrum (a musical instrument). Hathor was the goddess of dance, music and fertility. She received the deceased in the afterlife and by offering her milk, granted them eternal life.
