The so-called “Turin Taxation Papyrus”

In this document, dated the twelfth year of the reign of Ramesses XI, is compiled the report of tax collecting south of Thebes, undertaken by Dehutymes by order of the pharaoh. The Scribe of the Necropolis, with some boats under his command, is indeed charged with collecting taxes, in the form of grain, at various places in Upper Egypt, to be stocked in the granaries of the capital. It is possible that the amount collected was destined to the workers of the necropolis, so that they could continue to work at the royal tomb.
