Inner coffin of Tapeni

Of the three sisters, Tapeni is the only one who died at a mature age. Both her embalming, which included complete evisceration, and the decoration of her outer coffin were performed more accurately than for her sisters. The inner coffin is densely covered with texts, interrupted only by small pictures of deities and of the mummy with the soul-bird (the ba). On the foot is the Apis bull carrying the mummy, on the breast the sky-goddess Nut and the djed pillar, symbol of Osiris, lord of the netherworld.
