A coffin in the shape of a schematically carved cat seated on a circular base inset into a rectangular base. The whole is covered with white plaster and the cat’s head, disproportionately small for the body, is gilded. Unusually, the tail curves around the left side. The coffin was made in four parts. The outlines of the eyes are made of glass or some resinous material. The pupils are painted and gilded and covered with a piece of plain glass. The coffin contains a wrapped package visible only from the hole below the cat statue. The Ct scans show that the wrapped package contains the complete skeleton of a cat (possibly Felis silvestris lybica). It was embalmed in the usual fashion, seated, with the tail against the belly. Its bones are somewhat disorderly, and it was not very well wrapped. It was eviscerated.
