Coffin for a cat containing a mummy

A coffin carved in the shape of a cat sitting on a base with a curved back and straight front. The well-shaped body of the cat lists slightly to the left, with its tail wrapped around the right side. It is covered with plaster and the face is gilded. The coffin is made from two pieces of wood. There are traces of resinous material on the back. The CT scans show that the wooden sculpture contains the skeleton of a kitten. The animal is upright, with forelimbs flexed at the elbow and the paws directed upward; the hind limbs are probably flexed. It occupies about one-third of the inner space of the wooden statue.
