A coffin in the shape of a seated cat set into a rectangular base with a rounded side. The tail, made of a separate piece of wood, curves around the animal’s right side. The cat was plastered and then painted in green, to resemble a more expensive bronze container. There is some gilding at the neck on the right side. The ears are outlined in black paint. The eyes are made of inset limestone and the pupils painted onto the flat surface. A faience scarab is set into the head and there is a faience quadruple wadjet (eye) amulet, with the two pairs of eyes looking out. This cat copies a bronze cat in many details. The hollow cat is now empty, but once would have contained a cat mummy. It is possible that the amulets were later (nineteenth century) additions.
