A rectangular wooden coffin made of two pieces. the top shows a relief representation of a serpent coiled in a figure ‘8’. The tail going through the last loop is carved in very high relief. A rectangular indent accommodates the rearing head of a cobra, fixed by a tenon. The snake was once painted, with traces of colours surviving on the throat. The bottom of the base has a rectangular opening for a mummy.
The coffin contains the jumbled and disarticulated remains of a long snake. The head and body position are not easily identifiable, the animal was probably arranged in a figure ‘8’. The animal is wrapped in several layers of fabric.
