Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, lord of the netherworld, is the result of the merging of three gods: Ptah, the creator god and god of craftsmen, Osiris, god of the Beyond, and Sokar, patron of the Memphite necropolis (Saqqara). The cult of Ptah-Sokar-Osiris spread all over Egypt. In the Late Period one often finds wooden statuettes of this god in tombs. He is depicted with the mummified body of Ptah and Osiris, the plumed atef crown of Osiris, and the falcon, the image of Sokar. The hollow bases often contain papyri with extracts of the Book of the Dead.
