The high dignitary is shown reading a papyrus he holds partially unrolled in his lap. The inscription mentions the duties of the good official: “Enforcing the laws, establishing the rules… in the temple of every sanctuary...” In front of him, on the pedestal, are depicted the provisions listed at the beginning of the traditional offering formula: a round bread loaf, a jug, a conical bread loaf, the head of an ox and that of a fowl (“bread, beer, cattle, fowl…”). The scribe statue type is very ancient.
