This dignitary wears a collar with a pendant picturing the goddess Maat, habitually worn by judges. The choice of graywacke – a very hard stone to work, quarried in the Wadi Hammamat in the eastern desert - for such a large statue bears witness to the importance of the man. The very polished, almost velvety surface is typical for the sculpture of this period. The sharply outlined features are very finely carved.
