Block statues are stylized, almost geometric images of a squatting dignitary. They provided ample surface for carving hieroglyphic texts, in this case an offering formula to Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, that he may grant offerings to the dedicator in his town temple. The sculpture was dedicated by his son Amenhotep, a letter-writing scribe. The style of the sculpture suggests a date around 1400 BC.
