Bes vase

Around the Theban area Bes was depicted on several daily life objects: this vase is a wonderful example of such. The god Bes was the protector of children and women, especially during childbirth. He is typically depicted with a beard, a lion’s mane, a feathered headdress and his tongue sticking out of his mouth to scare off evil entities.
