Openwork axe blade with lion-hunting scene

Figured axe blade with archer and lion. Near the butt, an archer is depicted wearing a Nubian-style wig. The archer carries a quiver and holds a long bow with a nocked arrow. He wears a kilt with a belt and is shown kneeling. At the centre of the blade a tree is represented. The lion faces towards the cutting edge, striding forward with its left legs advanced; the muzzle and mane are indicated, the body is slender, and the tail hangs down. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts.
