Apis bull statuette

Figure of Apis bull, striding with left legs forward. He has a solar disc between his horns decorated with a detailed uraeus. The forehead has an incised triangle. The dewlap is indicated as a thin protruding rim. The neck forms a gentle curve. The neck is engraved with a vulture holding two shen rings in its talons. The back has an incised cloth decorated with two central bands with small incisions and the two side panels decorated in a grid pattern with dots in the centre and fringes. On the rump the solar disc is incised, flanked by uraei and winged. The left front leg is broken. The final part of the tail runs along the right hind leg. The figure rests on a thin rectangular base, broken and warped. A thick square tenon projects down from under the base. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts.
