Apis bull statuette

Figure of Apis bull, striding with left legs forward. The horns and the solar disc are missing. On the forehead, there is an incised triangle. The bull has a collar consisting of a band decorated with small incisions and dots. On the withers there is an incised winged solar disc flanked by uraei. It is possible that another incised figure was present on the rump since the tip of a wing is visible on the right thigh. On the back, between the two winged figures, a cloth is engraved, decorated with three central bands, a border and fringes: the two lateral panels are decorated with an X. On the rump, part of the original surface is missing and has been replaced by a light grey material, probably identifiable as a modern repair. This light green material surrounds an uneven and corroded area which shows a green colour, which might be the original surface of the object. The upper part of the tail is missing, and the rest of the tail runs along the right hind leg and is thicker towards the end. The figure rests on a hollow, thick rectangular base. Two diagonally opposite circular tenons project down from the base. The figure is mounted on a modern wooden base. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts.
