Snake mummy

Rectangular snake mummy package with rounded ends. The top is decorated with three columns of four rows of square-shaped coffers. The coffers are elaborated, with undyed and dark brown stripes interwoven into patterns of concentric squares. The coffers are secured around the packet’s perimeter by a wide folded perimeter bandage. The interior bandages consist of swatches of cloth as well as bandages that were wrapped haphazardly. A plain piece of cloth is affixed to the bottom and overlaps with the lower edge of the perimeter bandage. Areas of dark staining and drips indicate the use of oils and resins in the mummification process.
The package contains several snakes coiled around themselves.
