Cattle mummy

Mandible and part of the skull presumably from a bovid mummy. The age of the animal was at least one year. A dark material was applied to it, particularly in the area of the premaxilla. It is possibly a mixture of resin and oil maybe used to embalm the animal, though it might be the melted remains of the animal’s skin. However, a bit of paper with a black substance is attached suggests that it might be a modern conservation treatment rather than an ancient substance.
