Dog mummy

A dog mummy with a cylindrical body and prominent head with no detailing. It is tidily wrapped with basket weave bandages, covered by another textile which is only visible at the back of the animal. Another textile, probably dyed red and showing a starting border, covers the front of the animal. This shroud is kept in place by bandages blocked through a knot. Resinous material has been used to keep the external bandages of coarse linen in place. The right side is slightly flatter and the fibres are less degraded than the left.
The CT scan reveals the partially disarticulated skeleton of a juvenile dog. The animal was eviscerated.
