Dog mummy

Dog mummy with a flattened body and prominent head without naturalistic details. The faunal remains are wrapped in a shroud which is kept in place by spiral bandages knotted into position. The most external bandages show evidence of being painted, while resin was used to keep them in position. Some of the bandages have warp fringes. Possibly only one garment was torn up to wrap the animal.
The CT scan reveals an adult dog. The skeleton was placed seated within the package, with the hind legs pushed up toward the belly. Residues of brain tissue are visible in the cranium, the entire trachea is present, as well as a piece of the lung: it probably was only partially eviscerated.
