Ibis mummy

An ibis mummy wrapped to show the animal lying on its back with the beak resting on its ventral side and the legs drawn up to the body as if it were seated. The head and beak are covered by a dark brown cloth and then a sequence of orange/pinkish and undyed stripes were folded and wrapped around the package in a herringbone inset pattern. A larger bandage secures the edges of the herringbones. The present colour of the bandages is caused by embalming oils. CT scans show a complete skeleton of an adult ibis, positioned on its back, with the head folded over the sternum, wings folded against the sides of the body, neck curved in a S, and legs flexed and pushed toward the body.
