In the Ptolemaic and Roman Periods, the tunics are composed of two sewed sheets, generally decorated with two parallel vertical straps colored purple. By the 4th centrury AD, tunics are again manufactured in a single large piece of fabric with a hole in the center for the head, then folded and sewn all the open sides long but in correspondence of the arms, with or without sleeves. After the Arab conquest, a new tunic flared model spread, the jalabiya, assembled of various pieces of cloth.
