The classic "Coptic tunics" are woven in a cruciform way, starting from the edge of a sleeve and preceeding with the cloth and the second sleeve, with an opening for the head, sewn on both the sides and under the sleeves. The woven tapestry patterns, called clavi (vertical bands), orbiculi (round elements) and tabulae (square elements), can be placed on the lower part of the garment and sometimes on the shoulders, completed of angular frames on the bottom and trims on the cuffs.
