Lintel of a false door

The inscription on this block – which reads from right to left – includes the typical funerary offering spell. The spell begins with the words “an offering that the king gives” (hetep-di-nysut), an offering that Anubis gives….” In the last line we read the titles of the deceased, but not his name. He was one of the priests performing the posthumous funerary cult of king Cheops (Khufu). These priests managed Cheops’ pyramid and its annexed temples.
