The face of this statue was damaged, probably to extract the metal and hard stones the inlaid eyes were made of. Nevertheless, we can still see how accurately the facial features and wig were carved, a reflection of the high status of the subject. The mustache, carved in very low relief, is still visible. Mustaches were very fashionable during the 4th Dynasty. The hieroglyphs on the left side of the seat list Iteti’s titles, including that of inspector of the pure priests of the pyramid of king Chefren in Giza.
