The amulet was meant to be part of one of the so-called ‘magic bricks’, unbaked clay bricks placed at the four cardinal points of the burial chamber, in which a specific protective amulet was inserted. Among these, the only amulet found by Schiaparelli in Nefertari’s tomb was the so-called djed pillar, whose brick was placed on the west wall to repel Osiris’ enemies.
