Shrew mummy

A shrew mummy in the shape of a bundle. The animal is covered by different layers of textile: first, coarse and dense linen bandages, held together by a thread, then a larger piece of cloth attached with resin and, finally, a narrow-folded bandage wrapped spirally and apparently attached through dots of resin.

The bundle contains a small, juvenile shrew. The animal’s tail is bent and the lower limbs are stretched backwards. It is possibly a Crocidura religiosa.
