On these two jar fragments we read the first part of a scholastic text. The scribe Hori writes a letter to the scribe Amenemope. With an ironic and mocking attitude, Hori praises his qualities as a scribe while downgrading those of his colleague. The composition may have been created as a didactic model for teaching letter-writing and reveals how much rivalry and competition existed between the scribes.
