In ancient Egypt, music was an integral part of worshipping the gods and was practiced both during processional festivals in honour of them involving the entire population, and also during more intimate ritual ceremonies. Instruments played on these occasions included trumpets, drums, clappers, lyres, harps, oboes, flutes, and sistrums, played alone or accompanied by singing.
